about

The Syrian musician and exile Gharib released the protest song 'Antom Aein' (Don't hide your face from us) in response to the on going terror of El Assad and his regime which has set Syria on fire.

Trough 'Antom Aein' Gharib calls out to no longer look away from the catastrophe that is taken place in his homeland Syria as well as encourage his Syrian compatriots with his song. In order not to endanger his family and friends, Gharib has to remain anonymous. Yet he calls out for us to be his companions, his fellow-protesters in rejecting the violent oppression of El Assad, hoping for freedom and peace for the entire Syrian nation.

Protest singer Gharib had to flee from Syria fifteen years ago during the regime of the father of the current El Assad because his position due to his critical attitude became dangerously unbearable. After several arrests Gharib managed to get to the Netherlands and live there in exile; always torn between the land of his forefathers and his life in the Dutch society.

In cooperation with musician and producer Pim van de Werken the song 'Antom Aeim' was born, a fusion between traditional Arab protest music and the melancholic sound of Nick Cave and the ominous sounds of Tom Waits and Wovenhand.

To strengthen Gharibs appeal singer Arjen van Wijk (This Beautiful Mess) sings an English translation of 'Antom Aein'. Therefore the song will be released in two versions.

lyrics

Lyrics:
هل سمعتم بما حصل
وكم طفل منّا انقتل
نحن نصرخ
انتم اين انتم اين انتم اين
نحن هنا انتم اين
انتم اين انتم اين انتم اين

Have you heard what's going on here?
How many hurt, how many got killed here?
We are here, but where are you?

Do not hide your face from us.
